What are the benefits?
There are many benefits from having colonics. Ranging from, improving digestive complaints, a feeling of being lighter, less bloated, clean and empty and a sense of wellbeing.
It has the possibility of cleaning the colon like you can’t do yourself!
Is it safe?
The water is introduced at a low gravitational pressure, so there is no danger of bowel perforation. All of my equipment is disposable.
Colonic hydrotherapy, unlike the use of laxatives, is not habit forming and can actually improve the tone of the colon.
Does it hurt?
No, but there may be some discomfort on insertion but that soon goes when the muscles relax. During the treatment you may experience some cramping as the waste and gas starts to move around your colon.
Do you still have colonics?
Yes regularly. I still have them as I am quite aware that even I can’t clean my colon like a colonic can! It also reminds me of what anxieties and feelings my clients have.
As well as having regular colonics I seem to be continually studying/ learning. Whether that is from the countless digestive books I have accumulated over the years, or courses, such as Iridology, herbs, advanced colonics and nutrition. I also learn an incredible amount from my clients – their stories, symptoms and response to the treatment.
Don’t laxatives do the same?
No. Laxatives are designed to be used for temporary relief. They will not clear out/ soften the dry compacted waste.
Do you treat men as well as women?
Yes. About 30-40% of my clients are men.
One for the ladies – Can I have a colonic whilst on my period?
Yes. Please use a tampon and you may want to let me know if your stomach is tender to touch/ massage.
It can be a good time to have a colonic as your body is already in a ‘cleansing’ mode.
Is it embarrassing?
No, not at all. You are wearing a disposable gown during the treatment and I cover your legs with a towel/ blanket. Nothing is on show!
And the waste and gas that you eliminate during the session just flows down a tube – so no smell or mess either.
How big is tube that you insert?
Probably not as big as you think! It’s about the size of your thumb – if that. And yes, it’s well lubricated.
Can I have just one session or do I need several?
The number of treatments required always depends upon your individual case and prevailing conditions. Sometimes the waste is so hard and compact in the colon that it may take a series of colonics to sufficiently soften and loosen this accumulated faecal waste. Therefore the number required may vary from only one treatment to a number spread out over a period of time, after which preventative or maintenance treatment may be continued.
What do I need to do before the treatment?
No preparation required. I would suggest not having a large meal in the hours beforehand as I will be massaging your abdomen during the treatment.
And afterwards, how will I feel?
You should feel comfortable in your stomach – less bloated, a feeling/ sense of being empty, clean and lighter.
You will be fine to return your normal daily activities – but some clients can feel tired and a bit headachy, especially after their first session. This is normally due to the toxins and the body detoxing.
Following the treatment I sit you down and go through the aftercare with you, give you something to drink and a Pro-Biotic to replenish the good bacteria.
I’m a bit nervous, can someone come with me?
Of course you can bring someone with you. However, I don’t have a separate waiting area as such, so they will be in the clinic with us.
How long do I need to allow for the treatment?
For the first session please allow an hour & a half, thereafter an hour. The actual time I’m treating you with the water is normally between 30-60 mins. This is depending on your comfort and what & when is being released.
How much is it and how can I pay?
The cost is £60, and you can pay by cash, cheque or Bacs transfer.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes, available on request.
